Accident victim airlifted to US
serious injuries in a road traffic accident on Monday.
The 29-year-old man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after colliding with a Volkswagen car at the junction of Middle Road and the entrance to White's Supermarket.
Police believe he was in the westbound carriageway and the car was travelling east and in the process of turning right at the entrance. The accident occurred just before 1 p.m. on Monday and involved the two vehicles only, which were extensively damaged.
The victim was airlifted from King Edward on Thursday in a critical but stable condition and transported to the surgical intensive unit of the Lahey Clinic.
REGIMENT NON-COM'S OUT FOR TRAINING MIL Regiment non-Com's out for training The Bermuda Regiment will be carrying out training exercises throughout Warwick Parish this weekend.
PR Officer Capt. Stephen Caton advised the public can expect to see troop movement in the area of Camp Road and Sun Valley Estate in Warwick from 1 p.m.
until 9 p.m. today.
Capt. Caton stated: "A small part of the Regiment is being embodied on Saturday evening as part of regular internal security training.
"This weekend is the initial training weekend for the Potential Junior Non Commissioned Officers' Cadre. Operations will focus on patrolling and observation techniques.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but the training is necessary. We wish to forewarn the public to avoid any alarm, but there will be no danger to the public and we will keep any disturbance to an absolute minimum.'' POLICE PROBE FROM THEFT OF NEWSPAPERS CRM Police probe from theft of newspapers Police are investigating the theft yesterday of a significant amount of newsapapers from Washington Mall Magazines in Hamilton.
The papers were apparently removed from the Reid Street side of the Washington Mall after delivery in the early in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Inquiries are continuing.
PAGET MAN PICKED UP FOR POSSESSION CRM Paget man picked up for possession Police arrested a 32-year-old Paget man yesterday on Elliott Street just after 1 a.m. The suspect was initially picked-up for existing warrants.
At the time of the arrest however, Police found a paper bag containing 18 pieces of a rocklike substance on the sidewalk next to the suspect.
He was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply and detained at the Hamilton Police Station.
