While in the UK he will attend the World Travel Market, a Caribbean Hotel Association banquet, a Tall Ships' 2000 Conference and will hold several interviews with members of travel trade publications.

Mr. Allen is accompanied on the trip by Tourism Director Gary Phillips and he will also meet with the director and staff of Bermuda Tourism in London to gain direct insight into their marketing efforts.

Mr. Allen said: "This is an opportunity too good to miss and is the first of a number of explorations being made to monitor current events in this important industry of tourism.

"Later on I will be turning my attention to North America as it is important that every effort is made to revitalise this industry and that is primarily what this trip is all about.'' The World Trade Market attracts the largest gathering of international trade press and presents an ideal opportunity for the Minister to share with the media the new Government's plans and future approach to tourism.

Many of the stake holders in Bermuda's tourism industry, including hotel groups, airlines and cruise lines, will also be present.

The CHA will be presenting its Crystal Palm Award for Excellence at its banquet and the tall ships' conference will lay groundwork for the historic race to Bermuda which is expected to attract a large number of visitors.
