22-year-old was at the club shortly before 11 p.m. when he was involved in a disagreement with another man over a personal matter.

The argument escalated, resulting in the man being punched in the mouth and head. He suffered swelling to the forehead and bleeding and swelling to the mouth.

Police and firefighters turned out in force when a television set alight at the Southampton Princess.

Police arrived soon after 3 p.m. following a report of a structural fire, and found the brigade already in attendance.

The blaze had been discovered 20 minutes earlier by an employee, and inquiries revealed that it was confined only to a television in one of the rooms. There were no indications of foul play.
