It left the householder needing hospital treatment for a cut to his head which required nine stitches.

Police report that the householder was at home with his wife when he heard the doorbell ring. On answering the door he was confronted by two men.

One of the men was carrying a blunt instrument which he used to strike a violent blow to the husband's head, causing him to fall backwards.

Police believe the assault may be related to an argument the previous day.

The visitor was wakened by the noise of someone in his room at a Pembroke hotel. He saw a man standing over his table.

He shouted and the intruder ran over the balcony. He is described as black and wearing dark clothing.

A man was dragged off his motorbike and robbed by two assailants, in Hamilton, early on Sunday morning.

The victim, a 39-year-old Devonshire man, was getting onto his bike which was parked on Reid Street, close to its junction with Court Street.

He was grabbed and wrestled to the ground by one man while another approached and stole his wallet, containing $6 and some personal items. Both men ran away along Court Street.

The victim later attended hospital and received treatment to an injured shoulder.
