A woman returned home yesterday to find the cross-bred dog hanging in the yard of her Tribe Road, Pembroke apartment. The dog was hanging by its own rope from an electrical fitting on the side of the building.

The Police have been informed and the Government dog warden is also probing the incident.

Assistant dog warden Jeffery Benevides was horrified at the attack, which he said was done deliberately: "In my eight years in this job it is the worst thing I have seen a human do to a dog.'' It is understood the dog was very boistrous and Police are investigating how someone could have got into the yard to attack the dog.

The woman had left the dog tied in the yard in the morning and returned at 7 p.m. to find it dead.

The Government veterinarian was yesterday carrying out an autopsy on the animal and investigations are continuing.

THIEVES TARGET PEARS AND PARTS CRM Thieves target pears and parts Avocado pears were taken from a tree on a property on Orange Valley Road yesterday. Neighbours called Police after spotting a man up a tree taking the fruit, after 11 a.m. The suspect was to appear in court yesterday.

Meanwhile thieves struck Monday night at Richie's Cycle Shop on Union Street, taking a chain, battery, fender and handlebars from a Suzuki RC50 cycle.

Police also report: A colour television was taken from an apartment on Kitty's Drive, Hamilton Parish.

Cash was stolen from a residence on Parson's Road, Pembroke during Monday daytime.

Opportunistic thieves took a treadmill from the verandah of a home on Camp Hill, Warwick, also on Monday.
