Chief Justice Austin Ward yesterday adjourned proceedings against Jermaine Noel Pearman and Sharina Anne Tuzo, who are charged in connection with the death of a five-month-old baby.

The child, Saed Rami Nadir, died on August 29, 1997.

Mr. Justice Ward told the jury panel that the defence had been unable to arrange for a forensic medical expert to attend the two-week trial, and therefore the case was being adjourned.

It has been put down for mention at the April arraignments and is likely to proceed in June.

Pearman, 26, denies murder and Tuzo, 18, pleads not guilty to manslaughter.

Victoria Pearman represents Pearman, of Bob's Valley, Sandys Parish. Phillip Perinchief is acting for Tuzo, also of Bob's Valley. Crown counsel Brian Calhoun is prosecuting.

Pearman was remanded in custody. Tuzo was released on bail.
