Band off to the US
Bermuda tomorrow for a five-day promotional tour of Connecticut and the New York area.
The tour has been jointly organised by the Regiment's director of music, Major Barrett Dill and the Danbury Brass Band's director of music Allan Raph.
Maj. Dill said yesterday: "The Regiment supports the promotion of tourism overseas and never misses an opportunity to use the Band to promote Bermuda.
"The Connecticut and New York regions are a major market for local tourism.
"Our visit will be as of high profile as possible and we will do all we can to trumpet the beauty and pageantry of Bermuda.'' The band is completely funding the venture as part of its programme of musical enhancement.
The Band will perform along with the Danbury Brass Band -- a group of professional musicians and teachers -- at the Candlewood Playhouse, the Danbury Green, St. Joseph's Church in Danbury and at the Charles Ives Centre.
They will also visit Yale University's music department while overseas.
