baseball bat-wielding attacker in Hamilton at the weekend.

The 49-year-old was hit about the head and face with the metal baseball bat outside the Spinning Wheel nightclub on Court Street just after 3.a.m. on Saturday.

Police last night issued an appeal for witnesses to the attack, which was carried out by a man driving a white car.

The attacker, who fled in his car with another man, also smashed the windscreen of his victim's car. The Paget man is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit of King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. At one point his injuries were thought to be life-threatening.
