It took 11 minutes for firefighters to put out the electrical fire at the house on Euclid Avenue in Pembroke.

A Fire spokesman said when they arrived shortly before 4 a.m. they could see smoke coming from the bedroom.

Although it took a short time to put the fire out, he said, it took much longer to get rid of the smoke.

A child's mattress, carpet and chest of drawers received damage.
