according to the 1992 Manpower Survey tabled in the Senate yesterday by Information Services Minister the Hon. Mike Winfield.

Surprisingly, the only job group in which non-Bermudians nearly outnumber locals is that of Agricultural, Animal husbandry and Fishermen.

Between August 1991 and 1992 that field employed 422 Bermudians and 421 non-Bermudians.

The survey noted that out of a total workforce of 33,650, there were 26,358 Bermudians.

The 33,650 figure, as reported last month, shows that 971 jobs were lost since the 1990/1991 survey.

In the major occupation groups (Professional and Technical; Administrative; Clerical and Related; Sales; Service; Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Fishermen; and Production, Transport and Labourers), all but one saw a drop in job numbers.

There were 99 (2.7 percent) more jobs in the Administrative category, the survey reported.

Of the Island's major industries, the construction industry suffered a loss of 268 jobs, the international companies sector 72 and the hospitality industry 32.

Females dominated the Professional and Technical plus Clerical and Sales job fields, while men filled most of the jobs in the categories of Administrative, Agriculture and Fishing, and Production, Transport and Labourers.

There was about an equal number of females and males employed in the Service field: 3,804 and 3,977, respectively.

The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs and required employers to fill out questionnaires. It is the 14th such survey.
