asleep in the driver's seat while intoxicated was fined $450 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Thomas Smith, 44, of Pearman's Hill admitted having care and control of a vehicle while impaired.

Police nearly collided with the back of Smith's car when they turned the corner at the west end of Wellington Street.

Smith was parked in the middle of the street and he was asleep with his feet hanging out of the window.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. William Francis also banned Smith from driving for 12 months.
