intensive motorcycle training course.

Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Wilcox said the week-long course began on Monday with two Transport Control Department employees and one Police mechanic.

"Because TCD employees do not have a Police uniform, they will be riding in civilian clothes,'' said Sgt. Wilcox. Sgt. Wilcox explained that one of the reasons for the course was to give TCD employees a better understanding of what it was like to operate Police motorcycles on the road.

And because TCD is planning to run tests for 16-year-olds wanting to get their licences, Police feel that the instructors should have a better knowledge of the road and the mistakes that people make every day.

Mr. Denis Glasford and Mr. Richard Outerbridge are the two TCD employees participating in the training course. Both of them said that this course has improved their conception of safe driving. "This course has been a great help to us, it will give us better knowledge of the road so that we can teach and and give tips to those attempting to get their licence,'' said Mr. Denis Glasford. Police mechanic Mr. John Greenslade is also being trained by instructor P.c. Val Holder.
