Even Saturday afternoon's rainstorm could not keep the crowds away as young and old and visitors and locals alike enjoyed the festivities in the Botanical Gardens.

Agriculture and Fisheries Director John Barnes said although exact figures were unavailable, numbers have been consistent over the last seven to eight years.

While crowd-pleasing acts such as this year's Superdogs were sure to please, Mr. Barnes credited the show's continuing success on the willingness of local exhibitors to participate.

And he said the variety of displays on hand ensured there was "something for everybody'' to enjoy.
