BII pass rate `excellent'

BII director Mr. Ian Linnegan said the pass rate for the 90 exams sat was 68.88 percent, higher than both the UK and overseas pass rates.

Four different exams were taken, including risk management, principles of reinsurance, the business environment, and property and casualty insurance risk assessment and control.

The pass rate for risk management was 84.61 percent based on 13 exams, compared with a pass rate of 61.36 percent in the UK and 53.84 percent for overseas students.

Principles of reinsurance had a pass rate of 68.42 percent for the 19 exams sat, compared to 55.22 percent in the UK and 37.21 percent for overseas.

The business environment had a pass rate of 67.85 percent for the 28 exams taken, compared with 51.49 percent in the UK and an overseas pass rate of 48.94 percent.

The pass rate for property and casualty insurance was 44.44 percent based on nine exams taken, only slightly less than the UK pass rate of 44.86, and higher than the overseas pass rate of 28.48 percent.

The BII is now taking registration for the next set of CII courses which begin next month. Registration must be made in person at the BII office at 48 Par-la-Ville Road in Hamilton.
