A total of 293 road traffic accidents were reported last month, compared to 306 over the same period last year.

Injury accidents for July were also down. There were 143 last month compared to 150 in July last year.

Police again attributed the accidents mainly to drivers' lack of attention and inexperience with vehicles.

OWNER OF SUNKEN BOAT FINED $100 CTS Owner of sunken boat fined $100 A 33-year-old boat resident said he did not register his house boat, Pot of Gold because it had no engine and had been stationary for several years.

Terrence Orlando Astwood, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to two charges of not registering the boat.

Prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said the boat had been moored outside Robinson's Marina.

He said Somerset Police received a mooring complaint from Robinson's Marina on April 29.

Sgt. Dale said the boat, which belonged to Weldon Richard, was last registered in January, 1992.

BAG SNATCHED CRM Bag snatched A Pembroke woman became the victim of a handbag snatching this week.

The 34-year-old woman told Police she was riding along Serpentine Road in Pembroke on Tuesday night when a rider on another cycle snatched her handbag from her rear basket.

The theft was the second report of a handbag snatch this week and Police yesterday urged cyclists to secure their bags in the basket so that they cannot be easily removed.

CRICKET CELANS UP ENV Cricket cleans up Cleveland County Cricket Club and the Harris Bay Old Boys will be holding a clean-up rally this weekend.

The clean-up will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Harris Bay Field and the Talbot School Room, off South Shore Road in Smith's Parish.

It is in preparation for the Harris Bay and Somerset Old Boys Charity Cup Match on September 7.

Members of the community are welcomed to help and are asked to bring tools for painting or tools for cutting tall grass.

MAN ARRESTED CRM Man arrested Police arrested a 34-year-old Sandys man on Somerset Road near the Royal Naval Field, yesterday morning, on suspicion of stealing a cycle.

They found drug equipment while searching him.

The man is expected to appear in court in the near future.
