MAN FOUND USING COCAINE FINED $400 CTS Man found using cocaine fined $400 A man caught using cocaine inside an abandoned building was fined $400 in Magistrates' Court last week.

Milton Charles Eugene Dill, 39, of Cedar Park Road, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to trespassing on land of the Bermuda Nursery Association, possession of drinking straws and a plastic tube for misuse of drugs, and possession of a razor blade for preparing illegal drugs.

On November 12 Police caught Dill inside the boarded-up Bermuda Nursery Association building on Union Street, the court was told.

Dill was crouched over a lit candle on the floor, Police prosecutor Sgt. Ken James said. When officers entered, Dill stood up and dropped an item that was never recovered. Police arrested Dill and seized a paper bag that contained two drinking straws, a length of tube, and a razor blade. Traces of cocaine were found on the items. Dill was fined $100 on each charge.

Robert Charles Simmons apologised to the Policemen involved in the incident and promised not to be back in court "anytime soon''.

The officers found Simmons' wife "in a distressed state'' when they arrived at their Khyber Heights residence around 7 p.m. on May 15.

She told them that Simmons, who had been drinking all day, had become abusive and threatening towards her as the evening approached, causing her to run to a neighbour's house with her children.

When Simmons saw the officers, he became "very agitated'' and screamed obscenities at them.

The 26-year-old, who "smelled heavily of intoxicants'' was taken into custody and held at the Hamilton Police Station.

After passing sentence, Magistrate the Wor. John Judge warned the construction worker: "If I find you back here again, I will be forced to take you away from your wife and children.'' STUDENT ACCUSED OF IMPORTING HEROIN CTS Student accused of importing heroin A 20-year-old American student accused of importing almost $215,000 worth of heroin into the Island last week made her first appearance in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Gema Lizzette Carrison of Brooklyn, New York, was not required to enter a plea, as her case will eventually be heard in the Supreme Court.

Officials allegedly found the heroin among her belongings after her arrival at the Civil Air Terminal on May 11. Carrison was remanded in custody.

TEEN WARNED TO GET A DRIVER'S LICENCE CTS Teen warned to get a driver's licence Magistrate the Wor. John Judge told a Pembroke teenager yesterday he should save himself some money and get his auxiliary bike licence -- once his current driving ban runs out.

Jermaine M. Orr was fined $300 in Magistrates' Court for riding an auxiliary cycle without a driver's licence, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident on January 16.

The Swansbay Hill resident was disqualified from driving earlier this year for another traffic offence. The court heard that Orr struck the front of a taxi he overtook on the Middle Road in Devonshire.

According to the taxi driver, the 17-year-old cut in front of his vehicle sharply as they rounded a bend near Frog Lane. Instead of stopping, Orr drove off along Palmetto Road.

After making inquiries, Police questioned Orr who admitted the offences. "A licence for an auxiliary cycle costs $35,'' said Mr. Judge. "You should stop wasting your money -- take yourself down to TCD once your ban is lifted and get yourself one.''
