And Transport Minister Ewart Brown questioned why CARE -- Community Against Radioactive Emissions -- targeted one tower when there were 37 similar ones across the Island.

The group have campaigned against Bermuda Digital Communications' tower, located on Warwick property owned by the Southampton Princess. The Princess' owners have now served the firm with notice that its lease is to be terminated.

But Dr. Brown insisted it was unfortunate that a row should break out "when a Bermuda company is about to emerge as a major player''.

"I'm concerned when an organisation expresses alarm at what might be a risk to the health of Bermudians, but expresses that alarm in such a narrow fashion that it concerns me and others,'' he said.

Campaigners claim that the tower could put health at risk because of electromagnetic fields, said by some scientists to be a danger.
