Burglary accused escapes
out of Magistrates Court yesterday.
Lorenzo "Toronto'' MacDonald Darrell, 35, of Random Lane in Warwick, was arrested on February 14 after the occupant of the house he was allegedly burgling found him asleep on the floor next to his bed. He was also charged with possessing a housebreaking implement, namely a single black glove.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Darrell in custody however, and he was due to appear next month for mention.
However, Police later released a statement which said: "Darrell appeared in connection with an indictable burglary charge, and had been remanded in Police custody, when he apparently walked out of the courtroom unnoticed. Several units have been tasked with his recovery.'' Police have said that "Toronto'' or "Mackie'' Darrell is a 35-year-old brown skinned male. He is approximately 5'9'' tall, of slim build, clean-shaven and wears his hair cut short. When last seen he was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and dark blue pants.
