suspected of being involved in a burglary.

The Supreme Court heard how Carlton Eugene Minors and another man was arrested following the pursuit.

Earlier in the day a house in St. David's was broken into and jewellery worth over $16,000 was stolen.

Crown counsel Charlene Scott told the jury in the trial of Minors, 29, of Great Bay Road, St. David's, how the defendant's fingerprints were later found in the burgled house.

In her opening statement, Miss Scott said the complainants, Tammy Wurzbacher and Otis Ingham, discovered their home on St. Luke's Lane, St. David's, had been broken into in May last year.

The culprits had entered via the back door and watches, rings, other jewellery and $250 had been taken. Minors, who is defended by Renee Foggo, pleads not guilty to breaking and entering, and two counts of receiving stolen property on May 28 last year.

Miss Scott told the court that Minors' fingerprints had been found in the house. And some of the jewellery was recovered but not through the Police.

Detective Cons. Jewel Hayward described how he was travelling on North Shore Road when he saw Minors riding on the pillion of a silver Piaggio scooter.

An arrest alert had been issued for Minors and the other man, Lincoln Christopher, he said.

More Police arrived and both men were arrested in the area of Jennings Road, Smiths.

Officers later found jewellery adjacent to a driveway in the area close to the arrest and a Piaggio scooter.

The trial continues today.
