LANGLEYS LEAVE ON JULY 28 GOV Langleys leave on July 28 Governor Sir Desmond Langley and Lady Langley will leave the Island on July 28 after a farewell ceremony at the Cabinet Office, Government Information Services announced yesterday.

He and his wife have served here nearly four years having arrived in October, 1988.

His replacement, Lord Waddington, will arrive about a month later, said Deputy Governor Mr. John Kelly, who will be Acting Governor after Sir Desmond's departure.

Lord Waddington has been a senior member in past and present British Governments. He was former Home Secretary under Mrs. Margaret Thatcher and Conservative Leader in the House of Lords under Mr. John Major. He is known to be a strong backer of the death penalty and has promised to take an active role in helping the Island secure more British Airways flights.

THREE ACCIDENTS WITHIN AN HOUR AC Three accidents within an hour Three road traffic accidents occurred on Monday within an hour, a Police spokesman reported. But no one was seriously injured, he said.

The first was on North Shore Road at about 4 p.m. when a 58-year-old Paget man travelling east apparently lost control of his car near the Enterprise Grocery in Bailey's Bay.

The car mounted a stone wall and flipped onto its roof. The driver was wearing a seat belt and suffered only minor cuts to his legs.

The second accident occurred on Middle Road in Warwick near Fourways Inn when a car driven by a 57-year-old Warwick woman veered across the road, collided with an a wall and went over an embankment.

The car was extensively damaged, but the driver was uninjured. And on Middle Road in Warwick outside the Spicelands riding stable at about 5 p.m., an accident occurred between a silver Suzuki motor car and a Police motor cycle.

The Police officer suffered minor abrasions while the female driver of the car was uninjured.

The cause of the accident is unknown and anyone who witnessed it is asked to contact Sgt. Roseanda Jones.

JEWELS, CASH TAKEN CRM Jewel, cash taken Two break-ins were reported in the North Cote Road area of Spanish Point during daylight on Monday, Police reported yesterday. On both occasions the thief gained access through insecure windows. About $1,500 worth of jewellry was stolen from one of the houses and a small safe containing about $160 cash from the other.
