Police attended the single-vehicle road traffic accident at 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday on St. David's Road and found an overturned beige Mazda saloon on top of a moored boat.

The accident occurred close to the junction with the western entrance to the Southside playing fields and it is alleged that the woman fell asleep while negotiating a right-hand bend.

It appeared that the vehicle collided with an embankment, overturned and came to rest on top of a boat moored close to the water's edge.

The driver sustained a minor injury while the car was extensively damaged. It was pulled off the boat -- which was not damaged -- and back on to the road.
