The plan, submitted by Mr. Edwin Correia, adds an additional 543 square feet to the existing 2,780 square feet of floor space at the landmark building on Middle Road in Southammpton.

In a letter to the Development Applications Board, Warwick Designers' Mr. John Warwick said the plans include erecting an addition to the upper level northern side of the building where a wooden balcony was located when the property was known as Rising Sun Bar, and later as a small restaurant.

Plans also include a dining area that will be able to seat 80 people.

The Rising Sun building is presently a curiosity shop at road level and an apartment on the lower level.

If the plans are approved the existing roof at the east end of the building will be repaired with the east wall remaining the same.

But the parking lot across the street will be changed to accommodate 14 cars and 14 cycles and it will have a five-foot-wide sidewalk at the entrance.

A new cesspit will also be constructed for the building.

Renovations to the building's lower level will include offices, staff facilities, and a storage area for the restaurant.

The remaining area will be used for a boat rental business.
