The Escape Nightclub on Par-La-Ville Road had been given the thumbs up from the Police who made no objections to the granting of the license.

But Richmond Holdings Ltd. owners of Richmond House which is opposite the club made several objections through their lawyer, Cameron Hill.

Mr. Hill submitted that difficulties had arisen with the conduct of patrons which had resulted in excessive rubbish being left on the doorstep of Richmond House.

Mr. Hill also submitted that patrons engaged in anti-social behaviour outside of the club, including fighting.

"How do you know they are patrons?'' asked Acting head of the Liquor Licensing Board Ed King. "How can Escape stop people going down the road and fighting? "If people go into Escape and come out and litter the whole road, it is not a matter for management, it is a matter for the Police.'' And he said there had been no objection to the granting of the license by Police, and said the objection by Richmond Properties Limited was refused.
