Spokesman Lt. Jon Thomson told The Royal Gazette that the call from Blue Water Anglers Club on East Broadway came in at 8.02 a.m.

Firefighters and Police discovered a burnt table, curtain and section of carpet plus some minor smoke damage in a second floor sitting room .

Lt. Thomson said damage was estimated at $50 and the cause of the fire was under investigation by Fire Prevention officers.

He said this type of call -- where there was a report that a fire had occurred but had been extinguished -- was termed "a late call''.
