College at a series of meetings beginning on Monday.

The seven public forums will be chaired by the Chief Justice the Hon. Sir James Astwood who is also chairman of the Bermuda College Planning Team.

Also involving 20 other people from all sectors of the community, they will cover wide ranging subjects about the strategic plan for the College into the 21st Century.

Through the forums and written submissions the team will gather input to guide the college's future.

College president Dr. George Cook said last week: "We have to examine a wide-ranging selection of topics related to our future growth and development.

"We shall look at the social, economic and demographic trends in Bermuda as well as at the cultural, intellectual and research roles of Bermuda College.'' Meetings begin on Monday at noon, when economic and demographic changes and the responses required will be discussed.

Tuesday's meeting covers changes in the social fabric and what the social, cultural and intellectual role of the College should be in the development of Bermudian society.

On Wednesday the discussion will be major training requirements and the need for apprenticeship, training and retraining at the College.

Programmes of instruction and the College's international role will be the subjects on Thursday.

The meetings begin again the following week, on Monday, March 8, when a forum will be held regarding the nature of Bermuda College's local and international student body and their development and welfare.

The topic, the following day, is how the College will be financed by the Year 2000 and how community relationships can be fostered.

Finally, on Wednesday, March 10 an open forum will be held on how the college should develop its future. That meeting will be held at the Lecture Theatre, in the New Hall at Stonington Campus, beginning at 8 p.m.

All other meetings take place in the Conference Room at the New Hall, beginning at noon. Coffee and tea will be served.

Dr. Cook said: "It is vital that everyone in the community has a say in this exercise. We will be gathering data and we need input from everyone.''
