Government Senate Leader Lynda Milligan-Whyte said the Law Reform Committee had been asked to look into the specific problems encountered by those in the conveyancing field.

Among the proposed changes, she said documents could be signed and witnessed and did not necessarily have to be on paper or parchment.

Sen. Milligan-Whyte said the changes would reduce the time lawyers had to spend on these matters and thus cost would be reduced as well.

Opposition Senate Leader Milton Scott said it was nice to see that some of the archaic practices were being abandoned and he hoped that this would mean the average Bermudian would pay less for conveyancing work.
