The reading enacted the temperature guarantee scheme requiring hotels to give guests paying regular hotel rates a 20 percent discount for the night after the temperature fails to reach 68 degrees.

The scheme, which was introduced to lure more visitors to the Island during the winter, involves the Hamilton Princess, Southampton Princess, Grotto Bay Hotel and the Elbow Beach Hotel.

The scheme does not apply to visitors staying under special or group rates.
