Court date for show
A story in yesterday's paper reported that a March for Jesus was to take place yesterday. The march will in fact take place tomorrow at 1 p.m. It will begin at Crow Lane and end at Victoria Park.
Two people are to be prosecuted for organising a raunchy strip show at a Pembroke nightclub.
Spinning Wheel nightclub owner Charles Burgess, along with a club manageress, will appear in Magistrates' Court next week to face charges of holding an indecent act on the premises on May 6 -- Mother's Day.
The act, which featured three American male strippers and a cantaloupe melon, sparked off riots in Court Street when it was discovered that undercover Police were videotaping the performance.
Two of the strippers, Lotus and Scorpio -- real names Vincent Richardson and Daryl Graham -- have already received a slap on the wrist after exposing themselves on stage in front of a packed crowd of frenzied women during the show. Both men were bound over in the sum of $500 for 12 months when they appeared before Senior Magistrate Will Francis last week.
Both men claimed they did not realise they were breaking the law.
ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS! CHU Onward Christian soldiers! Local Christians can join millions of others in the second March For Jesus today.
Christians from 102 local churches will walk from in front of the Spirit of Bermuda statue (of Johnny Barnes) at Crow Lane through Hamilton to Victoria Park.
Walkers will gather at 1 p.m. for singing and will begin walking at 2 p.m., winding their way to the park.
Marchers will hear preaching and singing in the park until 4 p.m.
Everyone is invited to bring radios and "boom boxes'' all tuned to the same radio station broadcasting music and March for Jesus coverage.
All churches in Bermuda are encouraged to support the event. Organisers said more than 1,500 people attended last year's inaugural event.
