Supreme Court to settle a claim by the Bank of Butterfield.

The court has found in favour of the bank, which filed a $108,125 writ against Mr. Hall in August.

An October 22 entry in the Supreme Court writ book reveals the action was settled by "consent''.

Lawyers for the Bank of Butterfield are Appleby, Spurling & Kempe.

Yesterday Mr. David Addington, litigations manager for the law firm, told The Royal Gazette : "I can confirm that there is a consent judgment in respect of Mr. Hall, in respect of which the parties are in discussion.

"The parties have consented to the judgment being entered in these terms.'' Mr. Addington said the judgment had been in favour of the bank.

He declined to elaborate, or disclose what stage any discussions had reached.

Mr. Hall, a partner with Hall, Duncan & Trott, yesterday could not be reached for comment.

In August he accused the bank of moving with "unseemly haste'' over issuing the writ.

He declined to comment on the details of the suit, describing it as a private matter which went back several years.

"I know there was a portion of debt with the Bank of Butterfield which had been guaranteed by an individual,'' he told The Royal Gazette .

"The bank indicated it no longer wanted that particular guarantor.''
