Crown begins submission in drug smuggling appeal
12-year sentence for drug smuggling.
Charlene Webb, 27, is appealing against her conviction and sentence after a Supreme Court trial earlier this year.
Webb was sentenced to 12 years in prison in May after being convicted of conspiring to cocaine and cannabis worth a total of nearly $200,000.
She used US Base Navy personnel and post boxes to import drugs into Bermuda.
Co-conspirators Oswald Farrel and Carl Storey were both sentenced to terms of imprisonment by US Navy Courts Martial.
Farrel served six months in jail after agreeing to testify against St.
Brendan's Hospital accounts clerk Webb. Storey was sentenced to five years, but served only 15 months after turning Queen's Evidence against the other two.
The Court of Appeal is expected to hear the last arguments in the case today.
