Karen Joy Alweis was found with 4.53 grams of the illegal drug when Customs officers searched the Zenith on Monday. They also found a drug pipe.

Alweis, a 43-year-old housewife from Fort Salonga, New York, was fined a total of $500 after pleading guilty in Magistrates' Court to possession of a controlled drug and possession of drug equipment.

Earlier the court had fined Anthony Montemarano $150 after he admitted possessing 1.15 grams of cannabis.

The 22-year-old, from Tomkins Cove, New York, had been arrested on Front Street at 5 p.m. on Monday.

He was taken to Hamilton Police Station where a search revealed he had concealed two joints in a packet of Marlboro cigarettes.

The court also fined jobless Sandys Parish man Johnny Lee Marshall $100 after he pleaded guilty to possessing 0.58 grams of cannabis.

The 23-year-old, from Fairhaven Lane, had been arrested at The Beach club on Front Street on February 26 and taken to Hamilton Police Station where a search revealed a brown paper twist in his shirt pocket.

When asked what it was, he had told Police: "It's a joint and it's mine.''
