Genghis Khan Ebbin, of Spring Hill, Warwick, admitted taking parts but denied stealing the motorcycle.

He was appearing two weeks after his case was originally heard because Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis had ordered a social inquiry report into the reasons why he had committed his first offence.

Ebbin was found stripping the motorcycle by Police on the Ord Road playing field.

The motorcycle had been stolen from the car park of the Henry VIII Restaurant and Pub, in Southampton, 12 hours earlier.

He was charged with taking a sprocket, exhaust pipe and baffle from the motorcycle. He admitted the offence.

Sentencing Ebbin, Mr. Francis said: "You say you did not actually remove the cycle. You came upon it in a field.

"Of course you know better now than to strip any other cycle you see, because whether you come upon it or not it's somebody else's cycle.'' After speaking to the probation officer, Mr. Francis said that he would give Ebbin the benefit of the doubt and put him on probation.
