White & Sons were granted planning permission last week and hope to move into the building by next March. The company already have a supermarket in Warwick.

There will be provision for 72 parking spaces at the site which used to house the general store of the US naval base but which has been standing empty for the last six years.

The building in Corregidor Avenue already has refrigeration and storage areas for frozen and fresh produce. The new owners will make a few renovations and additions before moving in.

When the grocery store opens it will include a small liquor department and pharmacy as well as general groceries.
