Minutes of the DAB's June 28 meeting released this week said approval would be deferred pending a site visit.

In April, the Planning Department stood by its open space zoning of the land in the 1992 Bermuda Plan, stating that enough land had already been designated for housing.

Landowners the Richardson Trust, an Anglican Church organisation, described the Planning Department's zoning as "grossly unfair''.

The site contains a farm house and a number of cultivated arable fields in a woodland setting.

While the Planning Department had zoned the area a variety of woodland, open space and agricultural land, the Richardson Trust wanted parts of it to become residential and rural.

Prisons Commissioner Mr. Ed Dyer said yesterday one of Bermuda's two psychologists had taken up a post in the United States.

"She had the opportunity of another job, and accepted it. It's a simple as that,'' he said.

"We would readily take her back if she wanted to return.'' Mr. Dyer said the woman had worked in Bermuda's prisons for seven or eight months. She left at the end of last month.

He added: "There will shortly be an advertisement for someone to replace her.'' Currently, Bermuda has just one psychologist -- Dr. Derrick Binns.

MAN ARRESTED IN CHILD ASSAULTS CASE CRM Man arrested in child assaults case A 31-year-old Hamilton Parish man is under investigation after two 12-year-old girls reported they were sexually assaulted in separate incidents.

The man was arrested on Wednesday morning after a 12-year-old Pembroke girl reported a sexual assualt on Cox's Hill Road, Police said in a news release yesterday.

"Further inquiries led to a complaint against the same man of an offence of sexual exploitation of another 12-year-old girl,'' Police said.

The investigation is continuing.

MAN TAKES A BAT TO WIFE'S CO-WORKER CRM Man takes a bat to wife's co-worker A teenager took a baseball bat to his wife's job and assaulted a 40-year-old man.

Police said the assault took place earlier this week after a dispute broke out between the woman and the victim at business at Well Bottom, Southampton.

A 19-year-old Devonshire man reportedly hit the man about the body, causing bruising and swelling.

The injured man was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police inquiries into the incident were continuing.

JEWELLERY, BOAT GEAR STOLEN FROM HOME CRM Jewellery, boat gear stolen from home Jewellery and boating gear were stolen from a Pembroke home, Police said yesterday.

The items were of "substantial value'', said Police spokesman Insp. Coghlin Gibbons.

He added the theft was one of three break-ins reported yesterday.
