Bermuda Industrial Union president Derrick Burgess last night said that all parties will adhere to a longstanding overtime agreement.

"Everything is back to normal,'' he said.

The problem arose last weekend when BIU ports division workers banned over time on the vessel The Oleander .

The workers claimed that they were often asked to do overtime unloading the ship several days in advance and then have the offer revoked at the eleventh hour by management company Stevedoring Services.

But on Tuesday both sides reached a mediated settlement on the issue. Dock workers yesterday ratified that agreement.

"Once overtime is agreed to by both parties ahead of time it can only be broken if both management and the union agrees to it,'' Mr. Burgess added.
