He was charged with "unlawfully assaulting Catherine Reed and thereby did her bodily harm'' on February 1 this year in Pembroke.
Reed, a doctor at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Senior Magistrate Will Francis set a September 2 trial date.
Reed was represented by lawyer Mark Pettingill and Sgt. Phil Taylor appeared for the Police. Bail was set at $500.
