after a high-speed chase on Sunday evening remained on the loose yesterday.

Police spokesman Alan Oliver said uniformed Police officers saw the man riding a motorcycle along the Western Railway Trail and knowing that he was wanted in connection with several matters, moved to stop him.

The man failed to stop for the officers and a chase along Beacon Hill Lane ensued.

The man was subsequently arrested but was able to escape lawful custody and ran from the officers. He took shelter in a private residence and hid behind three Pitbull terriers.

As the officers approached him, he incited the dogs to attack them and made good his escape.

SEAT SALE EXTENDED FLY Seat sale extended British Airways is set to extend its spring seat sale due to customer demand.

The sale, involving the UK and 11 European cities, will now run until the end of March.

The round trip fare for travel to London between April 1 and May 31 is $698, with an extra $51 securing onward flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester.

For travel to Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Nice, Paris Milan, Rome, Amsterdam and Lisbon the fare is $798.

FUEL BARGE DIVERTED SHI Fuel barge diverted A barge carrying fuel has anchored in the Great Sound while the poor weather continues.

The Morton S Bochard is due to unload petroleum products at St. George's but was prevented from docking because of strong northeasterly winds.

It was moored off the East End of the Island for several days before moving into the Great Sound on Sunday.

BAND SET TO PLAY ENT Band set to play A Canadian military band will perform at Number Five Shed car park on Front Street tonight.

The free concert, featuring the Canadian Forces band Stadacona, starts at 7.30 p.m.

The tall ships Alexander von Humboldt and Roald Amundsen will be berthed alongside the car park, providing a spectacular backdrop to the concert.
