Daniel Caines, 21, of Horseshoe Road, Warwick, had admitted in Magistrates' Court that he missed 17 nights of drill.
But Caines, who has four months left to serve, yesterday promised to honour his commitments at the Regiment.
"I'm sorry for what I did,'' he said. "I'll finish the rest of my time there.'' Senior Magistrate Will Francis gave Caines a three-month prison sentence, to be suspended for one year.
