Kenneth Jeffers, of North Shore Road, pleaded guilty to the charge in Magistrates' Court.
Police travelling west near Riddell's Bay in Warwick saw Jeffers driving east in an erratic manner just after 11 p.m. on July 31, Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said.
Jeffers was stopped near Warwick Secondary School.
Police noticed that he smelled of intoxicants and was unable to stand without holding onto his car, Insp. Duffy said.
Jeffers was arrested under suspicion of driving while impaired.
An alco-analyser test later showed he had 199 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
He had no previous convictions.
