Magistrates' Court to three driving offences.

Leslie Outerbridge, 45, of Lolly's Well Road, pleaded guilty to driving an unlicensed and uninsured intermediate truck with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette told the court that around 5.20 p.m.

on November 25 Police officers were called to a two-vehicle accident on Harrington Sound Road.

The officers noticed that Outerbridge was unsteady on his feet, his eyes were glazed, and his breath smelled of alcohol.

Outerbridge was arrested and taken to the Hamilton Police Station where a breath test revealed that he had at least 158 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood -- the legal limit is 80 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres.

Sgt. Mouchette added that at the time of the incident, Outerbridge's truck was not licensed nor insured.

But taking into account that Outerbridge was a mechanic who worked all over the Island, Senior Magistrate Will Francis only banned him from driving intermediate trucks for the next two years.

Mr. Francis also fined Outerbridge $600 for drunk driving, $200 for driving the unlicensed truck, and $500 for not having it insured.

A Sandys Parish man this week pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired.

Fred Barcebal, 37, of George's Bay Lane, admitted to the offence which took place in Paget on November 15.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette told the court that around 10.20 p.m.

Police officers were called to a single-vehicle accident on Harbour Road.

The accident occurred when Barcebal's auxiliary cycle collided with a wall.

Sgt. Mouchette added that Barcebal was found lying in the road by a couple who called Police.

Barcebal was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and taken to the Hamilton Police Station where he was unable to provide a breath test.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Barcebal to pay a fine of $450 and banned him from driving all motor vehicles for the next 12 months.

A chef at a top restaurant was banned from driving for a year this week after giving a positive breath test.

Ian Mark Carruthers, 24, pleaded guilty to drink-driving after giving a reading of 216 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Carruthers, of Trimingham Hill, Paget, asked to be allowed to drive auxiliary cycles to get to work at Tom Moore's Tavern in Bailey's Bay.

But Senior Magistrate Will Francis, who heard Carruthers was stopped on South Road, Devonshire in October, fined him $450 and banned him from driving all vehicles for 12 months.

A man who admitted being double the drink-drive limit was fined $450 and banned from driving for a year this week.

Eddison Tucker, of North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty at Magistrates' Court after being stopped for impaired driving on October 2.

A brief hearing was told Tucker, 51, was arrested after a crash involving a beige Nissan car at the airport roundabout on Kindley Field Road.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said Tucker admitted to Police that he had been driving the car and had "had two beers''.

Tucker, a gas station worker, was breath-tested at Hamilton Police station and produced a reading of 175 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis told him to pay the fine by December 19.

A Magistrate banned a 46-year-old American man from driving for a year this week after he admitted drink-driving.

Darrell Ray Clement, of White Sands Road, Paget, was more than double the legal drink-drive limit when he was stopped on Middle Road, Devonshire last month, Magistrates' Court heard.

Clement, who works for the MarketPlace supermarket, was found to have 176 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood when Police tested him on November 7.

The court was told he was driving a blue Hyundai car and frequently crossed the yellow centre line and braked sharply before he was stopped.

He was handed a $450 fine and banned from driving all vehicles for 12 months.
