Her gratitude is expressed in a letter to Lord Waddington from the Queen's private secretary, Sir Robert Fellowes.

"Your message of loyal greetings was especially appreciated.'' CHEQUE FRAUD SENTENCED DELAYED CTS Cheque fraud sentenced delayed Sentencing has been delayed until May 17 for a man who pleaded guilty to 10 charges of cheque fraud in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Counsel for Gerald Claude Dillas, 28, of Palm Valley in Southampton, asked for the delay to give Dillas an opportunity to find employment and start repaying some of the $3,550.90 worth of goods and cash he obtained through fraudulent means.

Dillas admitted to stealing nine Bank of Bermuda cheques from his grandfather and using them fraudulently between April 5 and April 20.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Dillas had been co-operative with Police and had voluntarily confessed to 15 other incidents of fraud, which he asked be taken into consideration. Bail was set at $600 until sentencing.

THREATENED FATHER CTS A 19-year-old Devonshire woman received a six-month conditional discharge in Magistrates' Court yesterday after being convicted of charges of using threatening behaviour and causing malicious damage.

Suzanne Furbert, of North Shore Road in Devonshire, told Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis she "just lost it'' when her father turned his back on her.

Furbert admitted trying to hit her father with a lead pipe and to smashing three louvred window panes during a domestic dispute at her father's home on May 1.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Furbert had a history of convictions for similar incidents and appeared to be emotionally unstable.

Mr. Francis, in granting the discharge, took Furbert's time in custody since the dispute into consideration and recommended that she sought counselling.

The UK vessel Pacific Teal , on her way from Britain to Panama, diverted to the Island after the man became ill.

A search for a sailor who apparently fell overboard from a Belgian frigate has been called off. The frigate Westhinder is heading for HMS Malabar with seven German warships.

CAMPAIGN SUCCESS FNR Campaign success Organisers of the "Container for Bosnia'' campaign were yesterday overwhelmed at the support of local residents.

One ship container has already been filled up and dispatched, and a second is expected to be filled soon.

A campaign spokesman said no more clothing was needed due to "hundreds'' of residents dropping off bundles of clothes on the weekend. Most needed now is food stuffs, especially baby food, and soap.

The container is located outside Lindo's supermarket in Devonshire.

BUSINESS BOOST CON Business people meet tomorrow to discuss how to involve workers in the improvement of products or services.

They will discuss the topic at a Wednesday meeting of Bermuda's Quality Awareness Team, set up in 1991 to boost business efficiency.

Honorary member, Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan will attend the meeting at the Mariners Club in Hamilton from 5.30 p.m.

The team, which now has 248 individual members, will be congratulating 23 business people who have completed a course at Bermuda College.
