The former Cabinet Minister appeared at a Press conference yesterday for the first time since a back injury sidelined him from the campaign trail. The Warwick West candidate warned people that there was no easy way to a better life, promised by the PLP, apart from hard work.

"The UBP has got it right. This country is full employed, the construction industry is booming -- that didn't happen by accident,'' he said. He added that the economy was one of the best in the world and the Government was better placed than anyone to offset the impact of a global recession, if one did occur.

"I don't believe and I will not be convinced that the PLP have the capacity to prevent that sort of thing happening to this country.

"I would urge people to think seriously about how they are going to vote, for their children's future and for the future of this country,'' said Mr. Edness.

Mr. Edness thanked members of the public, and in particular those from Warwick West, who had wished him well during his recent trip to the United States for treatment to his back.

Mr. Edness has been back campaigning, albeit on the telephone, with running mate Yvette Swan after arriving back at the weekend.

The interim treatment will allow him to carry on campaigning but he will have to return to the US for an operation in the near future.
