for employing a Portuguese visitor without the proper permits.

Victor Daponte, 39, of Caesar Estate, Devonshire, pleaded guilty to employing Portuguese national Antonio Simas.

As a result of information received, Police officers went to a Devil's Hole Hill residence where they saw Simas trimming a hedge.

They asked him to produce his work permit. Simas said he did not have any papers.

Daponte told officers at the Hamilton Police Station that he employed Simas without the proper documentation and paid him $12 per hour in cash.
