The Development Application Board agreed to a longer period for the centre to finalise technical details of the controversial site at Vesey Street.
A Planning Department spokesman said the application, on which a decision has not been made, had now been given a second extension for its plans.
The proposal has caused much controversy, with the National Trust fearing it would take away some of Bermuda's last remaining ancient woodland.
A public hearing into the plan is expected to take place.
