Kenneth Minks of Fort Lane was acquitted in Magistrates' Court of using a fixed fishing gear, being unlicensed to possess fixed fishing gear and possessing lobsters on September 15.

But Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Mapp did find Minks guilty of obstructing the cause of justice.

Fisheries wardens claimed they observed Minks, through a telescope, as he pulled what appeared to be lobster pots from three locations off the North Shore.

When the wardens identified themselves -- while he was the Mullet Bay Park area -- and requested an inspection a startled Minks reportedly emptied his cooler overload, put his boat into reverse and headed out to sea.

Mrs. Mapp fined Minks $150 for resisting the fisheries and warned Minks if he came across anyone from Fisheries in the future, "just do as they ask''.
