relaying any sightings of bad weather conditions at sea -- especially water spouts which could signal tornado activity.

"We are asking that in the future, fishermen or anyone who sees water spouts out at sea contact Harbour Radio or the US base weather forecasters,'' Information Services director Mr. Gavin Shorto said yesterday.

The request was made last night by the Emergency Measures Organisation following a meeting to assess damage and review the handling by emergency services of yesterday's tornado in the West End.

Mr. Shorto said that the overall feeling was that the situation had been handled well. The meeting was attended by officials from the Police Force, Fire Service, Social Services, the Bermuda Regiment and the Housing Corporation.
