After leaving from Darrell's Island at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday the vessel failed to return at its intended time of 7 p.m.

The boat made no attempt to contact land.

Harbour Radio made several radio broadcasts to locate the boat, during which time the Marine Police tracked the waters off Daniel's Head in search of the missing vessel.

The Rescue 2 launched illuminating flares at around midnight in the waters around the wreck Vixen , known to be a favourite fishing haunt for the boat's passengers.

A local vessel, Fantasy Flier , reported the flares to Harbour Radio.

When told why the flares were sent out, they claimed they had seen a boat matching the description given by Harbour Radio passing under Watford Bridge at around 8.30 p.m.

The boat was reported back safely at 12.50 a.m. yesterday.

Harbour Radio were due to speak with the people on the boat yesterday about preventing future miscommunication.

DRUNK DRIVER GIVEN 12-MONTH BAN CTS Drunk driver given 12-month ban A Pembroke man who struck a wall while drink driving and then fled the scene was fined $1,200 and has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 12 months.

Winston Maynard, 33, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court on charges of driving while impaired, driving without a vehicle licence and having no third party insurance.

The court heard that Police attended the scene of the accident after receiving a call that a vehicle had been driven into a wall at the junction of Stovell Bay Road on July 4, 1996.

Police arrived on the scene to discover the driver of the vehicle was not in the car.

Officers later spotted Maynard walking along Controversy Lane in Pembroke with bleeding cuts.

They escorted Maynard to hospital where he agreed to give a sample of blood.

The blood sample was taken by a doctor in front of the Police officers and Maynard was found to have 166 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner disqualified Maynard from all vehicles for 12 months and ordered him to pay fines of $600 for driving while impaired, $100 for driving without a licence and $500 for driving without insurance.

TEEN WOUNDED DURING ROBBERY CRM Teen wounded during robbery A teenager claims he was was stabbed by a man who grabbed a chain from his neck in Cambridge Road, Sandy's, on Saturday night.

The man demanded the necklace and then snatched it, according to the victim.

The teen then noticed a two-inch wide stab wound to his chest.

He went home and his family took him to hospital.

Police say the injury was not life threatening.

AIRPORT FACES ROAD DISRUPTIONS FLY TFC Airport faces road disruptions The public have been warned of road disruptions at the airport due to engineering work taking place in the next few days.

Acting general manager Lester Nelson said workmen are installing new air conditioning equipment, which will require the siting of a crane on the airport's interior roads over the next week.

It will mean the departure dropping off road may be closed for a short period and the taxi rank at the arrivals zone will also be partly restricted for a time.

"We will be installing air handling units on top of the airport as part of the air conditioning upgrading project,'' said Mr. Nelson. "We will be using an 80 tonne crane and will have to block off the road for safety reasons.'' He said it could mean passengers may have to be dropped off at the US Airways departure area for a time.

"We are not expecting major disruptions but we are asking the public to arrive no later than 90 minutes before departure.'' BURGLAR MAKES A QUICK GETAWAY CRM Burglar makes a quick getaway A burglar was disturbed as he raided two bedrooms in Park Hill, Warwick, in the early hours of Saturday.

One man heard the burglar and gave chase but the thief escaped with a black bag containing cash and personal papers.

A short time later a woman neigbour spotted the same man in her bedroom. Again he ran off -- this time escaping with credit cards and cash.
