Puckerin, 25, who lives at the same address, Michael W. Adams, 16, also of Footbridge Lane, Kofi Omar Dill, 23, of Eastgate Lane and Kenwandee Robinson, 17, of St. Monica's Mission Road were all charged in connection with an attack on Oshane Darrell last October.

Mr. Darrell was allegedly beaten in the St. Monica's Mission area, suffering a fractured skull, later recovering in the intensive care unit of the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Robinson appeared in Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded in custody, while the four others appeared yesterday.

The Puckerin brothers were represented by lawyer Elizabeth Christopher, but the other three had no legal representation, although Dill said he had secured the services of Venous Telford.

Five face attempted murder charges Acting Senior Magistrate Edward King told the four men that the charge they faced was extremely serious and would be heard before the Supreme Court. He said they would be well-advised to seek legal representation, either out of their own pocket, or through Legal Aid.

Mr. King then read the charge, which stated that on October 28 in Pembroke parish, the defendants and others not before the court (Robinson) did attempt to murder Oshane Darrell.

Principal Crown counsel Dorien Taylor asked that bail be for a substantial amount as the charge was so serious. Mr. King set bail at $10,000 for each defendant and they also needed two sureties of $5,000.

They were also told to report to Hamilton Police station on Thursdays and Mondays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. starting tomorrow.

The defendants were also told to have no contact with known prosecution witnesses and all travel documents had to be surrendered.

Before the men were free to leave, Perry Puckerin was asked about $1,550 in unpaid fines, one dating back six years from 1995.

Puckerin was told to pay all the fines forthwith, or face 104 days in prison in default.

All five defendants will reappear in Magistrates' Court next week.
