The horrifying ordeal began when the 26-year-old Warwick victim, who was carrying a portable cassette recorder, was walking along Cedar Hill, Warwick at about 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

As he walked past, the group approached him and struck up a conversation. The victim resumed his journey, but soon noticed that one of his tapes was missing.

When he confronted the group about the missing tape he was punched repeatedly in the face and knocked unconscious.

He awoke to find the gang surrounding him brandishing clubs. He also noticed that a gold bracelet and ring had been stolen from him while he lay on the ground.

The victim decided to make a desperate bid for safety by running home, but was chased to his doorstep by the thugs who then confronted the victim's girlfriend and mother.
