The fumes are believed to have leaked from a gasoline container.

It was Marcus Smith's first appearance in Magistrates' Court. The court heard that on September 15, Police officers observed Smith pouring a beverage from a brown bag into a plastic cup as he sat on Front Street with a group of men.

Smith then added orange soda, and began to drink from the cup. After approaching him, officers discovered a half full bottle of Smirnoff vodka in the bag.

In Magistrates' Court, the 30-year-old was fined $700 and further disqualified from driving all motor vehicles until May, 1995.
